How much do you think a person should spend on their family? Your spouse. Children (toddler, youth, adolsent, or teen). Neighbors. Friends. Postal Carrier. People your socially interact or attend clubs, associations, church, etc. And how about Co-workers and/or Boss.
Why will you give or not give gifts to the above?
How do you figure on the right amount to spend?
Should you go in debt (creditcards) for these gifts?
Will you use deferred payment/interest plans for _____?
Or only pay cash?
Since there is only 30 minutes to go…I’ve got my holiday shopping done as of this weekend.
Here’s what I have spent, this year. I am leaving out the new mattress for my daughter her old mattress gave up the ghost–I just found a good sale on black friday (under $200 for a pillow top).
I averaged $70 for each child plus an additional $100 for gifts for the entire family. A free standing basketball goal and board games.
I spent $70 on me. $70 on boss and co-workers, children’s teachers.
Kept it simple. I put it on my discover (1% to 5% cash back) and it will be paid off (I have the cash).

Teens in debt
Im not a stingy person but spending all this money on christmas is really insane. I mean what are you trying to do buy your relatives love? If so forget it because it doesn’t work in fact you may even make them depressed because now they may feel obligated to buy for you in which case they may not have the money.

We have 4 children – ages 4 to 20, we only buy for close family (so about 15 people) and the children’s teachers. I will also buy something for my nanny.
We plan to spend about $3000, but will realistically probably spend $4000-5000. Always cash — don’t finance Christmas. If you can’t buy it – you can’t afford it.
