is this what other teens have to deal with?

Saturday, December 26th, 2009
Richard D asked:

okay so i’ll be the first to admit my family is well off. i’ve only lived the ‘rich life’ because my parents got were out of debt before i was born and they get me everything i want if i earned it. i’m different than my parents because i support invisible children and i went to The Rescue on April 25th, but when i told my parents about it they looked at me like i was crazy. i only get punished for doing things bad by ‘i’m so disappointed in you.’ and a long talk, then when i do good all i get is ‘good job.’ when i walk past them. they also don’t prefer me hanging out with my ‘lesser social class’ friends, when we went to open house at my school and they saw some of them they looked kind of shock to see me hanging out with them. it wasn’t always this bad, but now that i am 16 they seem to want me to hang out with people like us. they also are homophobic. are they afraid of people who aren’t like them and is this what other teens that have well off parents deal with? i go to a public high school because they want me to have a ‘normal life’, yet they give me a 2004 4runner limited with a 3 inch lift.
i don’t like being spoiled i **** country club clothing and going to real expensive restaurants. give me a t-shirt, pair of jeans and vans and i’ll be fine. @Monti i had to earn enough money to buy my own laptop and some of my own clothes because they don’t like them.

School Education? teaching unnecessary subjects?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009
sensesfailxmiserably asked:

Do you believe that school systems teach unecessary subjects. In math for example, they choose to not teach things like, managing your checkbooks, finding your balance’s, etc. but choose to teach…trigonometry, geometry, graphing, etc. I think school should teach more of life skills, things you will ACTUALLY use in everyday life. Many teachers say “There are careers that use it” yes that is true, but there are also many careers that DONT. I think this should be thought out while making the curriculum, even as im 16 years old, I STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE A CHECKING ACCOUNT, FIGURE OUT BALANCES ETC! and they wonder why so many teens become in debt, and fail being on their own. opinions?

DO YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF DEBT SUPER FAST!

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

If you’re at the end of your rope financially and are looking for a way out… then you’re going to be extremely glad you found this webpage.

Why?  Because in the next few minutes I’m going to tell you about a HOT new course I’ve just finished that’s going to kick the debt industry in the gut — because it reveals all of the filthy lies and nonsense going on with their so called “expert advice“.  (It’s a billion dollar industry based on, up to now, bad information and ignorance… and the “fat cats” who run the show want to keep it that way!)

Actually its more like the “Ultimate ‘Get Out Of Debt’ Owner’s Manual” because anyone who’s really serious about getting out of debt will immediately know the information it contains is absolutely crucial to your success.

Why?  Because frankly, unless you understand the secrets of getting out of debt correctly, you’re just wasting your precious time and money.  Worse, you may even hurt your chances of ever recovering financially!

Anyway, very soon now, I’m going to release this course to the world — all the lawyers, the debt relief companies, the politicians — they’ve been anxiously waiting for it for about a year now.  And once they’ve had a chance to review it… I’m positive they will try to get the laws changed because of it.

Let me whet your appetite a little.

To give you a taste of some of the techniques I have waiting for you

My name is Rob Shapiro. I’m a motivational coach for people struggling with anxiety.

I struggled nearly 20 years with Panic, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Depression, and obsessive worry. For the last decade, I’ve been living free because of my unique and dynamic approach.     I have now had the pleasure of mentoring thousands of anxiety sufferers from all around the world using my groundbreaking method for overcoming anxiety.

What can you do – starting today – to free yourself from the chronic worrying, the weird bodily sensations, panic feelings, nervous tension, unwanted thoughts, and the depressed feelings?

What can you do – starting today – to conquer your fears and live a life without chronic anxiety and worry?
Have you ever asked yourself why you keep feeling anxious and keep worrying despite your desire to feel better?  I asked myself that question back in 1995.  I found the answer.

There’s a common denominator in virtually every case of anxiety and depression.  This underlying cause sounds off the alarm system in your mind.  This alarm prompts you to invent irrational fears, feel panic, experience social anxieties, obsessive worry, and depression.

Regardless of whether you inherited a genetic disposition to anxiety or lived through circumstances beyond your control, you can still overcome anxiety if you learn how to correct the underlying cause.

We live in a world of “instant gratification.” We shouldn’t be surprised when people resort to anxiety medication as the “solution.”  Well, anxiety medication can be a tool – but it’s not the solution.

We often run to books or other resources to learn ways of dealing with the symptoms of anxiety and depression.  We learn breathing techniques, traditional cognitive tools, and we try replacing irrational worries with rational thoughts or “positive” thoughts. These are tools – but not solutions.
Often, when you overcome one fear, phobia, or irrational thought – you invent new ones to replace the old ones. And then you wish you had the old fears back because you believe they were easier to deal with.    Why do you invent new fears? Because you are only dealing with the symptoms and you haven’t healed the foundation!

There is a solution for overcoming anxiety and a depression. There’s a “cooler” way to conquer your fears and relieve depression.

To be successful in healing, you need two things: a compelling strategy that heals the foundation and the right motivation to guide you.

Where can I get a cheap suite on a royal Caribbean cruise that doesn’t top $500?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
David V asked:

I’m trying to find a royal caribean cruise that has a suite that costs less than $500 and is on the west of america’s coastal area. Can be anywhere from Texas to L.A., California. If that’s an impossible price, then I’ll make the max $700. It needs to have a pool, a cafe, a theater, a teens hangout, a solarium, a beautiful veiw, and has to look beautiful. Whoever answers this, I will forever be in your debt.

Debt~ Please help?

Monday, September 28th, 2009
Jamie asked:

A few years back when I was in high school and getting all of these credit card offers I was stupid and did what many teens do and open all of the accounts and now I got myself into some trouble. I know I have been turned over to collections but even collections are no longer sending me letters asking for payments now.
I am wanting to pay off these companies that I owe to the only problem is, I dont know who and how much I owe!

Is there a way I can figure out who I owe money to and how much? and also is there a way that I can take all these bills and somehow put them into one so Im only making 1 payment?

Help please, and no rude comments or remarks please I know I messed up big time!

Also it is no more than $10,000. Im not sure of the exact amount but my highest credit card was $2000.00

Cosmogirl US has folded?

Monday, September 21st, 2009
Juicy Moosey asked:

this makes me saaaaaaaaaaaad, even though im from the uk!
I LOVED cosmogirl uk cos its was just different to all the other teen mags on the shelves!
Ive still got all my back issues ;) I liked it cos it wasnt just all fashionboysmakeupsex…well it was, BUT it was also big on YOU and just life in general, everything had a perfect balance…you could go from reading kissing tips to discussing teenage depression and why teens got into debt , etc etc.
What do you guys reckon?
With all the semi decent girl/teen mags folding ( ellegirl, cosmogirl), what will we do now?!
Obvs im 19 and eventually I moved onto the ‘womens’ but theyre just so shallow and materialistic.
I havent been able to find a mag that has the pefrect mix of life stuff, current affairs, celeb, fashion, etc for girls my age.
so sad.

Why are so many teens into this crap?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Username asked:

Sorry for calling it crap, please don’t get offended. It’s just that, so many teens like my age, I’m 14 . And their all into these stupid teen movies like “American pie” and “Super Bad” with all these stupid *** jokes. What ever happened to good jokes that aren’t dirty and still funny? It’s like to them nothing is funny if it doesn’t have the word “Penis” or “Vagina” or Cursing and other dirty things. To me none of this is funny, what’s so funny about it? Ugh, Sometimes I feel lonely as a teen girl who hates all these things made for teens to pollution their minds, I find Shakespeare funny sometimes, but they don’t get it! I find radio funny, good ol clean radio and I LOL even, but they don’t get it cause DJs aren’t allowed to curse or be dirty on the radio. Like, and porno…Come on people, they just say “Not available for minors” so that they won’t get sued or something. But they are really intended for minors who don’t have debts to worry about and it’s all spend spend spend!!
Minors, who are curious and they keep pushing it with teen movies with only about 5 seconds of **** and under age *** , and people who makes these know that teens are LOVING IT!! I guess my problem is here, why aren’t I more like them or why am I so different? Like, on the outside I try my best to fit in, I mean I talk with my teen friends about puussies on a daily basis, and all my facts are straight cause it’s obvious. Like my guy friend watched this **** clip with a ***** smoking through her vagina, and I explained how it works and everything is right. But on the inside, I don’t like being like them. I mean, why can’t I find someone just like me to talk to?
I like anchorman, but I love reading about Plato and Hamlet more. And watching films like “Apocalpyto” and other films my friends aren’t into
What are my chances of finding a religious, mature guy my age?
Does anyone know any books on this subject?

How much do you expect to spend on Holiday presents this year? Is it more or less than past years?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Single Dad of 4 asked:

How much do you think a person should spend on their family? Your spouse. Children (toddler, youth, adolsent, or teen). Neighbors. Friends. Postal Carrier. People your socially interact or attend clubs, associations, church, etc. And how about Co-workers and/or Boss.

Why will you give or not give gifts to the above?

How do you figure on the right amount to spend?

Should you go in debt (creditcards) for these gifts?

Will you use deferred payment/interest plans for _____?

Or only pay cash?
Since there is only 30 minutes to go…I’ve got my holiday shopping done as of this weekend.

Here’s what I have spent, this year. I am leaving out the new mattress for my daughter her old mattress gave up the ghost–I just found a good sale on black friday (under $200 for a pillow top).
I averaged $70 for each child plus an additional $100 for gifts for the entire family. A free standing basketball goal and board games.

I spent $70 on me. $70 on boss and co-workers, children’s teachers.

Kept it simple. I put it on my discover (1% to 5% cash back) and it will be paid off (I have the cash).

Do you know of a FREE trusted credit counseling organization to help lessen burden of debt?

Saturday, July 4th, 2009
DARIA asked:

I am $25,000 in debt from 3 different high interest credit cards coupled with being dumb and naive when I got them in my teens. I am 29 now, a single mom living in California, in the poverty income level without any assets. I don’t use the cards anymore but I still pay the min. balance on time–I just want the debt gone and wouldn’t be too proud about filing bankruptcy. I heard I should I get the debt consolidated but how the heck do I go about doing that? I’m not too clear about how that works and there are so many gimmicks and 1-800 #s advertised that I don’t know where to go. I live in California– specifically in San Bernadino County if that helps.

TEENS: did i cover this through? what are the disadvantages of becoming a doctor? ( homework assignment)?

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
dAmIAnOoO x)) asked:

First of all the education by itself is very long and time consuming. We are talking about 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and additionally ,depending on the specialty that a person chooses another 3-7 years of residency. And if a person decided to do a fellowship then we are talking about another 3 years. Plus at this time the salary comes to be less than the minimum wage
Second of all is the pure cost of it. The cost of education is really high ,and it does not matter what school you will attend, well at least thats my own opinion but in addition to whatever college debt is gathered , the average graduate of a medical school if looking at approximately another $ 120.000 of debt , and thats a lot and what if a person decided that being a doc. is not something they wanna do ? That person just wasted a lot of time of their life , not speaking about money i mean thats a huge bill to pay off .
Third reason is the lifestyle. It is difficult during medical school and residency. Expect lots of time studying, late nights on call. Some people might even go through a divorce due to the stress that it puts on the marriage. Also residency training is not a ideal time to start a family so often people face the choice of either postponing that and thus being on the older side or trying to start a family in the midst of other huge demands for your time. And speaking of it. Lifestyle will also greatly depend on what kind of medicine you decide to practice, where you decide to practice, and to what kind of clientele will you have . If you decide to be a doctor in an inner-city clinic you may not make very much. If you are a plastic surgeon to the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, you will be a millionaire. Most doctors can expect their home life to be disrupted by work. Again, however, how much will all decide on what type of medicine you practice and where. If you work at a hospital doing emergency surgeries you will have to work many holidays, and you will often get home hours and hours after you are scheduled to get off. If, however you have a private practice, you might have to take some time to see some patients that are in the hospital on the holidays, but it might take 2-3 hours out of your day, at most. No matter what field of medicine you go into, however, you will not see your family much while you go through medical school, and especially while you do your residency.
And last but not least the factor of malpractice.Unfortunately, we live in a very litigious society. 2/3 of all doctors will get sued at least once in his/her career. Depending on your specialty, it may even be higher. It’s an unfortunate reality that despite your best efforts, this can still happen to you. Few other professions have such a high risk for liability.the pros are that you get to help people get better and help their families to gain confidence and to still carry hope, or to just make people better, the cons are diagnosing a patient with a disease that slowly destroys their body or that will affect them and their family, for instance, alzheimers disease.

those are the 3 paragraphs of my essay this is for homework

sorry its long if you have time and patience to read it thne i appreciate it

my question is did it cover it through ??am i missing something ???
there are actually 4 paragraphs
1.cost of education
2.time consuming training
3.lifestyle
4.malpractice
and at the end there is 5th paragraph my general reflection about this occupation and then the conclusion

Do most people who raise their siblings have their own kids in later life?

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Cybele asked:

Or are they turned off having children all together? I effectively raised my two younger sisters because my father worked fulltime and my mother was chronically ill. I resented my lack of freedom during my childhood and teen years. I’m afraid of having children of my own since it would mean a return to drudgery, and being housebound, though I like children and enjoy their company. I’m afraid that that I’ll never be able to take a holiday, never spend an evening out with my husband, or being chronically in debt like my parents are.

Pay off credit card with fixed home equity draw?

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Bella asked:

My 48 y/o sister has asked me a question and I don’t want to give her bad advice. Here’s her question and her stated financial info:

Should they pay off balance on their 8.25% (prime for life) credit card (with a long and excellent credit history) and put that balance towards their home equity loan? Both have high FICOs.

They currently have a 1st mortgage of $200K fixed at 4.25% until 5/09. They also have a fixed (locked in) rate of 7.65 on their home equity line at a 10-year term with a current balance of $50K ($18K avail). Their home is worth between $550-580K. They only have one credit card they use, but it’s $12K (prime for life) currently 8.25% and she makes at least double the monthly payments in an attempt to pay down. They would like to eliminate the credit card debt if possible to be able to save more and not feel so stretched each month. Plus one teen now needs a car (more outflow).

Banker will lock addt’l draw and combine both for 7.6%. Yearly income $90K. Advice?
Forgot to mention that mortgage is $1375/month, she pays $700 on equity loan (min $685), and she pays $700-1000/month down on the credit card. If CC was eliminated, the banker told her the new lock on the equity loan would make that monthly payment $763, which she could also pay more down on with no penalty. She’s really nervous about fooling with the equity in the home because of their old(er) age. Should she keep things as is and pay down aggressively or transfer to current home equity or other great idea? Thanks again.

Who Pays the debts when a family member dies?

Saturday, January 17th, 2009
Tazz asked:

Who is responsible for paying bills / debts when your mother passes away? My mother does not own a home, she has no income aside from SSI and she recently divorced a man that there marriage only lasted 5 years, with him not having to give her a cent.
Because her income is so low, the court made it where there divorce was final, but she is allowed to live with him for 18 months (paying a small rent fee)…But once she is out, she has nowhere to go (I am stationed in Germany for another 4 years) and my other two sisters have no space for her either.
My worry was with all the LARGE DEBT she has, I was wondering who is responsible for it, as I was told us three girls were when she does pass away. That kinda upsets me, as she purposably made that and is still in the process of spending $$$ on her plastic cards, having no future income to pay the bills…I was just a bit worried who is gonna be responsible for this when she passes away, as I out of her home all through my teen hood.

Do you think Obama is the reason for the U.S. being in debt?

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Michelle asked:

I’m sorry but I blame a percentage of American people. Not Obama. People overspending on unnecessary things or things they can’t afford and other people getting over payed. Also SORRY but I blame childbirths no offense but teenagers having babies isn’t helping. The parents have to spend more money on childcares, food, etc while their teens go to school and don’t work. Plus even if Mccain became president the country would still be in debt and instead of complaining about Obama’s books we would be complaining about Mccain’s houses. Either way we are still screwed.

10 points for best explanation to what you feel you’d honestly do

(no right answer here) Guys out of their teens, are you reluctant to ask a girl out in this situation because of the economy…?
You met a girl and a casual event, you were attracted to her, you clicked, seemed to get along great, exact same sense of humor, but you barely see her and don’t know a ton about her. You’d ask her out normally (if your job was secure) so that you could get to konw her. But in this situaion, you don’t know if your job will lay you off (tbey’re laying off lots), you have a huge school debt, and you may not see her again if you don’t ask her out. What would you do? honetly
